BABE RUTH

Born in Baltimore, 6-2-95.
Died 16-8-48, L-Z, B-Z.

The contribution of Babe Ruth to the baseball of the United States cannot be defined in words. Suffice it to say that he changed the structure of the game, and with the money produced by his ticket sales Yankee Stadium was constructed. His records are numerous, and among the most notable his 714 home runs hit, 60 of them in 1927, are mentioned. He began as a pitcher and was converted by the Yankees into an outfielder in order to put his punch to good use. Elected to the Hall of Fame in 1936.
