I’ll say this right now, I am not a fan of non-sport cards. I understand why they exist, but I do not indulge in them. No nudie cards. No movie cards. No comic cards. No game cards. Just sports for me.
That being said, how in the world could I pass on this? Here we’ve got a nearly complete unopened box of 1984 Topps Michael Jackson cards. This may be the best purchase of Black Friday. Read more »

For the first time in my life, I actually went to the stores this morning (Black Friday) like all the other people whom I’d made fun of in the past. My wife and her sisters usually go, and had this been a normal year, I would have been inclined to stay home and sleep. After all, I do have to work today.
But you see, my wife is seven months pregnant with our first child (a girl) and there is no way in hell I’d let her go out there by herself. I knew she had some larger items she needed to carry, and her primary target (Kohls) does not have really user-friendly baskets. So I dragged my ass out of bed on four hours rest (this coming after a sleepless night the day before) to assist. Read more »

This week I fight a serious urge. I never really considered myself a prospector, although I do fancy myself a baseball card collector who likes to be “in the know” (read: own rookies/first cards of everyone). So with the release of 2008 Bowman (Chrome) Draft Picks and Prospects this week, I fight the urge to buy a box or two.
When I got back into collecting in 2006, after a on-and-off couple of years during college, it was because of a random blaster I purchased at Wal-Mart. In that stray blaster, I pulled this. I had no idea who Travis Snider was, but I learned minutes later via eBay that he was a top prospect and the card I pulled could have instantly paid for my box, and three others. Read more »
