Card of the Day: 2001 Upper Deck Hall of Famers Game Jersey Joe DiMaggio
**Note: With the All-Star game taking place this week at Yankee Stadium, I will spend the next several days showcasing cards from my Yankee collection.
This card hails from perhaps one of the best-looking memorabilia sets ever created. This is the 2001 Upper Deck Hall of Famers Game-Used Jersey Joe DiMaggio card. I pulled this card from a retail pack, and I was speechless when I realized I was holding a piece of Joe DiMaggio’s jersey. And the kicker … the card features the old-school jersey with a sweet-looking Yankee pinstripe. This is actually the first time I’d seen a vintage Yankee uniform up close. I had no idea that the pinstripe is actually constructed like a checkerboard. DiMaggio jersey or uniform cards are becoming more common place in the hobby. Actually, I think you can pick up one for less than $50, or the price of some up and coming chrome prospect rookie. But because of the set design and the fact that this was produced toward the beginning of the game-used era, this particular card remain popular among collectors.
