Pack Break: 2008 Upper Deck SP baseball

spStopped at 7-Eleven to get some coffee on this fine morning and picked up the final two packs of 2008 Upper Deck SP baseball. When the heck did SP become a product sold at retail stores? Anyway, read on for the pack break.

Pack One:Cole Hamels, Josh Beckett, Roy Halladay, Brandon Boggs AUTO RC #’D/999, Joba Chamberlain, Albert Pujols, Jimmy Rollins and Carlos Lee.

Pack Two:Ian Kinsler, Troy Tulowitzki, Alfonso Soriano, Derrek Lee, Mariano Rivera.

Thoughts:That first pack was awesome. Even without the Boggs auto, that was a hell of a pack. We have two World Series MVPs (Beckett and Hamels), a Rookie of the year and soon-to-be two-time NL MVP (Albert Pujols), 2007 NL MVP (Jimmy Rollins), 2003 CY Young award winner (Roy Halladay), an under-estimated stud (Carlos Lee) and a young hobby favorite (Joba).  Hard to top that when it comes to base cards. I’m happy with what I pulled in two packs, but probably won’t buy any more. I’m fortunate enough to have pulled an auto and a Josh Beckett (for my Sox collection) in just two packs. I’m not inclined to press my luck.

  1. Awesome little break! Didn’t know any 7-Elevens still carried baseball cards!
