Blaster Break: 2008 UD Timeline
After buying three lose packs of this line on Friday, I admittedly was curious what else I could pull. I read somewhere that there are autographs in here, and then when I looked at this blaster today, it offered the same thing. So I decided to try one just for kicks, especially since the box offered 9 packs for just $15.
Pack 1: Ryan Braun, Vlad Guerrero, Erik Bedard, Don Larsen YSL, Robinzon Diaz RC, Carlos Beltran (94 UD All-Time Favorites)
Pack 2: Matt Kemp, Johan Santana, Justin Verlander, Evan Longoria RC (92 UD Top Prospects design), Russell Martin (95 SP Top Prospects), David Wright (05 Timeless Teams)
Pack 3: Derrek Lee, Daisuke Matsuzaka, Jason Bay, BJ Upton, Evan Longoria RC, Vlad Guerrero (94 All-Time Favorites)
Pack 4: Hanley Ramirez, Joe Mauer, Matt Holliday, Alex Gordon, Craig Breslow (92 UD Top Prospects), Ryan Howard (05 Timeless Teams)
Pack 5: Travis Hafner, Chipper Jones, Frank Thomas, Matt Joyce RC (92 UD Top Prospects), Nick Blackburn RC (95 SP Top Prospects), Alfonso Soriano (05 Timeless Teams)
Pack 6: David Ortiz, Randy Johnson, Roy Halladay, Alfonso Soriano GOLD parallel, Blake Dewitt RC, Frank Thomas (94 All-Time Favs)
Pack 7: Ken Griffey Jr. (ChiSox), Jose Reyes, Grady Sizemore, Joey Votto RC (92 Top Prospects), Burke Badenhop RC (95 SP Top Pros.), Troy Tulowitzki (05 Timeless)
Pack 8: Prince Fielder, Derek Jeter, Torii Hunter, Clete Thomas RC GOLD parallel, Justin Ruggiano RC, Joey Votto RC (94 All-Time favs)
Pack 9: Chase Utley, Jim Thome, Mark Teixeira, Alex Rodriguez, Chris Duncan (92 Top Pros.), Blake Dewitt RC (05 Timess)
Thoughts: For $15, I could have done much worse. Truthfully, the two Longoria rookies saved my ass here. Without them I’m staring at about five Red Sox cards, a YSL insert, two parallels and a stack of cards to trade. This product confuses me beyond belief. I am not sure why UD chose the throwback designs that it did, and I am boggled as to why certain players appear in certain parts of the high-numbers. I mean I pulled a Russell Martin card with a 1995 SP Top Prospects design (die cut) and the card actually says “Top Prospects.” Huh?! I love the design, but this makes no sense.
