1997 Topps Gallery Box Break Images

Posted in Box / Pack Break with tags , , , , , on November 12, 2009 by Cardboard Icons

Here are the images from my 1997 Topps Gallery baseball video box break posted a week ago. Pretty neat break. I wound up missing only six cards from the 180-card set and had only a few doubles.

Here is an example of what some of the cards look like:

Posted in Box / Pack Break with tags , , , , , , , on November 4, 2009 by Cardboard Icons

After waiting more than two weeks for my box of 1997 Topps Gallery, the box arrived early Wednesday morning via FedEx. I broke it LIVE on steaming video. Images of the cards will be scanned and shown later. Over all a pretty cool box, hope you enjoy it.

Also, there are a few other video breaks that can be seen at www.qik.com/cardboardicons. I recently broke a retail Blaster of 2009 SP Baseball (link), a Retail Tin of 2009 Sweet Spot baseball (link 1, link 2),  a discounted 2008 Stadium Club Blaster (link), and a 1996 Upper Deck Series 2. hobby box (link). And if you have not yet done so, you can follow me on Twitter at www.twitter.com/cardboardicons. I send out a tweet minutes before each LIVE video break.

2009toppsheritageMy wife and I stopped by Target last night to get some diapers, and as luck would have it, the store had a single retail box of Topps Heritage. It looks like your routine pack searcher already hit the thing, but that matters not to I as I just wanted to have a taste of Heritage.  I bought two packs. Results of the break are inside … Continue reading

Box Break: 2009 Topps Retail Mini Cereal Box

Posted in Box / Pack Break with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on February 23, 2009 by Cardboard Icons

2009toppscerealMade a trip to the shop today to buy cards, but wound up purchasing only supplies. So I stopped at Toys R Us on the way home and walked away with one of these 2009 Topps Retail Mini Cereal Boxes — not to be confused with the hobby cereal boxes, which contain a cool binder and sheets. It was a fresh case of 12 boxes so I had my choice of Mickey Mantle, Babe Ruth or Ted Williams. Because I’m a Sox fan you know damn well I’m choosing Teddy Ballgame. I figure even if the contents of the box suck, the packaging will serve as a cool little decoration for my work desk. Continue reading

Blaster Break: 2009 Upper Deck Baseball Series One

2009udstarquestjeterWhen the 2009 baseball products began hitting shelves earlier this month, I told myself I’d buy one hobby box of Topps and won’t even touch Upper Deck. For some reason I’d become a bitter collector who all but banished any base Upper Deck product from my home. Well, I’ve got to admit something, the ’09 Upper Deck base cards look pretty damn good; I figured I’d snatch up a few retail packs if I saw them– If anything I could use them for TTM requests. Well, I still have not found single retail packs, but I did find a blaster, which offers a guaranteed jersey card. I bought it, telling myself this was the one and only. Blaster results within … Continue reading
