Here are the images from my 1997 Topps Gallery baseball video box break posted a week ago. Pretty neat break. I wound up missing only six cards from the 180-card set and had only a few doubles.

Here is an example of what some of the cards look like:

errors, missing a layer of printing.

Got two Player Private Issue parallels, limited to 250 copies each: Ryan Klesko and Tom Glavine

Got three inserts:

After waiting more than two weeks for my box of 1997 Topps Gallery, the box arrived early Wednesday morning via FedEx. I broke it LIVE on steaming video. Images of the cards will be scanned and shown later. Over all a pretty cool box, hope you enjoy it.

Card of the Day: 2003 Topps Gallery Hall of Fame Edition Warren Spahn autograph

Posted in Card of the Day with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on February 13, 2009 by Cardboard Icons

2003toppsgallerywarrenspahnautoThis was the auto hit that I pulled the other day from my hobby box of 2003 Topps Gallery Hall of Fame Edition. I intended to post the image on that day, but after spending six hours in front of this computer blogging and doing live breaks of three hobby boxes, I felt I needed a break. Anyhow, I also wanted to discuss this card a bit because it is somewhat significant; a single image would not be enough. Continue reading

Well, it looks like I’ll have time to bust this box after all. I’ve invited my wife to sit here and open packs with me. Maybe, just maybe, we can pull another monster card like the Wade Boggs auto relic I snagged just minutes ago in my 2003 Topps Gallery box. 20 Packs, 5 cards per box. Relics fall 1: 9 packs

Live break starting shortly … Continue reading

Decision 2009: Three Topps Gallery Boxes

Posted in Newspaperman with tags , , , , , , , , , on February 11, 2009 by Cardboard Icons

OK, so the other day I wrote about scoring a deal on three factory sealed hobby boxes of Topps Gallery for about $60, or about $20 per box. And in my post I posed the question to the readers: What would you do with the 2002 and 2003 boxes. I want to say I am shocked, but I guess I really am not. After a whopping 14 votes — hey, that’s a lot for this little blog — 12 readers decided it’s best for me to open all three boxes instead of selling two of them to recoup the costs.

Well, given that my wife got a new car yesterday, and I received two awesome packages that I already wrote about today, I think luck is on my side. Translation: I’m going to rip all three boxes!

I’ll start with the 2002 box, then go with the 2003 box and then rip my favorite, the 2003 Hall of Fame Edition.

Oh by the way …

This will be

live break!

The festivities will begin momentarily. (in a separate post)
