Um, surely he meant to sign it “Toe,” right?
Everyone loves a good failed prospect story. And those familiar with Greg “Toe” Nash surely are aware of the greatness that never was.
The brief version: Nash was a super prospect who never went to high school, was “re-discovered” playing semi-pro ball, and was given a contract with Tampa Bay. At one point he was dubbed the next Babe Ruth. He played minor league ball but couldn’t keep himself out of jail and quickly found himself out of baseball. End of baseball story.
Funny thing about all of this is that “Toe” (nick name given because of large shoe size) had a handful of rookie (and XRC) cards in 2001. His best being the pictured 2001 Bowman Chrome autograph that hails from the same set as the legendary Albert Pujols rookie.
But take a good look at that autograph. Is it me or does that actually say “Tow” and not “Toe?”
*facepalm*
